Broome
A city in Australia
Comments
A true Pearl in the Australian landscape whose lustre is only rivalled by it's unique inhabitants. Watch out for Box Jellyfish in the wet season. Zanders on Cable does the best club sandwich I've ever eaten. Try and get up to Cape Leveque if you have a spare couple of days. You can't beat the moonlight cinema for romance.

Phnom Penh
A city in Cambodia
Comments
Unexpected beauty and friendliness in an often misunderstood place of tragic history. Don't be afraid to dig your heels in. People are often scared of Asian Street food, but you can usually tell where it's safe to eat, and it's worth it. Street food can be divine. Don't hire motorcycles unless you have an Australian motorcycle license. It's a cheap destination but medical is expensive and insurance won't cover motorcycles unless you already hold a licence in your country of residence. Don't be afriad to ask locals for help. A surprising number of Cambodian do speak English.

Venice
A city in Italy
Comments
A destination where getting lost can be the best thing that ever happened to you. Where it is something to avoid in most circumstances, it should be a priority to get lost in Venice. Walk, and keep walking. When you get tired, jump in a water taxi. The further you get from the tourist traps, the better. Pack a lunch, wear comfy shoes and just go. I walked through Venice for nearly 14 hours and never retraced my steps. You get a much better appreciation for Venetian life this way, and stumble upon some beautiful gems other tourists don't see such as boutiques and book shops.

Noumea
A city in New Caledonia
Comments
Parisian food without the Parisian price tag. Let's not mince words, you go to Noumea to eat French Food, or at least, that's why I go. It's cheaper than Paris for food that's on par. It's a relaxing place, which is safe and has enough going on to keep you reasonably busy for about 5 days. Beyond this, you might find that you become a bit bored. It's hardly a party town, but there is enough laid back night entertainment for a relaxing kick back. Definitely a great fit for older couples who want to take it easy.

Chiang Mai
A city in Thailand
Comments
Spend like a millionaire, and eat like a king. Learn to barter and don't be thrown by the poverty. In reality, market runners do exceptionally well: much better than their counterparts. Nightlife can be sketchy depending on where you are hanging out as the sex trade is strong in Chiang Mai. Watch out for hawkers trying to herd you underground as they are often trying to get you into brothels. Don't hire motorcycles unless you hold a motorcycle license in your home country. A medical event could cost thousands and ruin you financially.
